Shem Creek Boogie Band
The Shem Creek
Boogie Band began playing a Thursday night gig in the spring of 1991, at The
Trawler Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant, SC, on Shem Creek, thus the name, SCBB….
The band is comprised of Tim V. Haynes, one of 2 lead singers in the group.
Tim was born in Spartanburg, S.C. Tim lived in California as a young child
and then spent most of his
teen
years residing in the upstate of South Carolina. He started his musical
career by singing and playing guitar as a teen for all of his friends and
family. He then began playing seriously in 2005 as a solo act around the
state, and has continued to expand. He is now singing and playing with The
Shem Creek Boogie Band, and also as a soloist on the local Charleston scene.
His love of music encompasses easy rock, blues, beach music, and crossover.
Michael Beard , a new addition to lead vocals, is a newcomer to the
entertainment business, but he knows how to light up the crowd. He's from
Mt. Pleasant, has deep southern roots, and a passion for Beach Music and
R&B. Michael is always ready to entertain the crowd and keep the dance floor
jumping. You will find him up front with tambourine and shakers in hand. He
grew up on music by The Tams, General Johnson & Chairman of The Board, as
well as all of the Myrtle Beach beach music bands. He also plays trumpet as
part of the “horn section” in the band. Bob Tuttle, drummer and
vocalist, formerly played with The Parrots, a very popular Charleston band
of the 80’s, and was a road musician for years. He also played with The
Tropicools, a local beach style reggae band at Folly Beach. His last band
gig prior to this band was Barnacle Bob, another great local dance band in
Charleston. Bob is also a singer/songwriter for which he is locally known.
Herb Stokes formerly played with Second Wind and Barnacle Bob. He
is the lead/rhythm guitar player and sings lead and back up vocals. He hails
from right here in Charleston. John Sullivan also played with
Second Wind and Barnacle Bob. He is the Bass player, sings vocals, and acts
as the booking manager of the band.
