The Shem Creek Boogie
Band began playing a Thursday night gig in the spring of 1991, at The
Trawler Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant, on Shem Creek, thus the name, Shem Creek
Boogie Band.The band is comprised of Randy Olsen, who originally played with
The Pendletons in Summerville back during high school days. He also played
guitar and sang with Second
Wind
during the early to mid 90’s. He has written several original tunes which
the band plays regularly.Bob Tuttle, drummer and vocalist, formerly played
with The Parrots, and was an on the road musician for years. He also played
with The Tropicools, a local beach style reggae band at Folly Beach. His
last band gig prior to this band was Barnacle Bob, another great local dance
band in Charleston. He is also a singer/songwriter for which he is locally
known.Herb Stokes formerly played with Second Wind and Barnacle Bob. He is
the lead/rhythm guitar player along with singing lead and back up vocals. He
hails from right here in Charleston.John Sullivan also played with Second
Wind and Barnacle Bob. He is the bass player and sings vocals as well. The
Shem Creek Boogie Band plays classic rock along with all the old favorite
beach music tunes.Parties and wedding receptions, along with a mixed bag of
restaurant and bar gigs are where the Shem Creek Boogie Band lays down their
tunes.Look for them in the local advertisements and come on out and check
them out when you get a chance. They will bring back lots of memories of
music past.
